What this app is
LighterLiver helps you keep your own record of a liver condition and read general, evidence-based information about it. It is a place to keep track and to prepare for appointments.
What it is not
It does not diagnose. It does not tell you what your results mean for you personally, and it does not give you medical advice, a treatment plan, a diet plan or a dose.
It is not a substitute for your doctor, and nothing in it should change what you take or what you do without talking to them first.
If you are unwell, contact your doctor. In an emergency, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.
The numbers it shows you
Figures such as FIB-4 are calculated from the results you enter, using published formulas. They are only as good as what was typed in, and a calculated number is not a diagnosis. Your doctor interprets them in the context of everything else they know about you.
Where the app summarises habits over a week, that summary is a rough picture built from what you told it. It is not a clinical measure and it is not validated as one.
Reading a report with the camera can make mistakes. Check every value against the report before you save it.
Your record is yours
Entering your results, reading them, charting them and exporting them are free, and always will be. That is not a promotion; a person should never have to pay to see their own health record.
Paid features
Some conveniences are paid: reading reports with the camera, Apple Health and Watch sync, and comparing several measures on one chart.
Both a monthly subscription and a one-off purchase are offered. Prices are shown in the app in your own currency before you buy.
A monthly subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID is charged on renewal. Manage or cancel it in Settings on your device, not here, and not by deleting the app.
The one-off purchase is not a subscription: it is bought once and does not renew.
Purchases are made through Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms.
Keeping your own copy
Your record is stored on your device and nowhere else, which means we cannot recover it for you. If your phone is lost, replaced or reset, anything you have not saved a copy of is gone.
Save a copy from Settings, and keep it somewhere you would keep a medical letter.
Content and how current it is
The clinical information in the app is reviewed and dated. Guidelines change, and there may be a period where something here is out of step with the most recent advice. Where a date is shown, it is when that content was last checked.
Liability
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using it or relying on it, including any decision made on the basis of something it displayed.
Nothing here limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia.
